Past, Present, Proud

Through countless acts of courage- performances, protests, drag shows, potlucks, organizing, and everyday acts of visibility- our local LGBTQ+ community and allies have helped shape the culture of Nevada City. This moment was years in the making, carried forward by people who created space, took risks, and chose to be seen. From the enduring legacy of the Nisenan to David Osborn and Charles Woods' contributions to our town, to our first intimate Pride flag raising and the Rainbow Walk, each step helped make this historic day possible.

What began as a grassroots effort led by a remarkably small team became something much larger than any of us imagined. On June 6, 2026, hundreds of people gathered for Nevada City's first official Pride Parade down Broad Street. The organizers were overwhelmed by the turnout. Families lined the sidewalks. Children danced alongside drag performers. Friends embraced, neighbors cheered, and for one unforgettable evening, our downtown became a joyful celebration of authenticity, belonging, and community.

In a time when LGBTQ+ communities continue to face growing attacks across the country, gathering publicly to celebrate one another remains a powerful act. Pride is celebration, visibility, and resistance.

Nevada City's first official Pride Parade is now part of our town's history- and only the beginning. Thank you to every volunteer, performer, sponsor, participant, attendee, and supporter who helped make it possible. You are now part of this story.

Help Build Pride 2027!

Nevada City's 2026 Pride Parade showed what our community is capable of. Now we're building on that momentum. It takes so many helping hands to create a welcoming, joyful, and safe celebration, and we'd love for you to be part of making Pride 2027 unforgettable.

Following the Parade, the historic Nevada Theatre came alive with an unforgettable evening of drag, music, comedy, storytelling, improvisation, and community. Hosted by Lyric Rose Theatre and the incomparable Cloaca, the inaugural Pride Variety Show brought together local favorites and visiting artists for a night that was joyful, moving, hilarious, and beautifully queer.

For many, the Variety Show became one of the highlights of Pride weekend- a chance to laugh together, celebrate queer creativity, and continue the magic long after the last parade float rolled by.

We're already dreaming about Pride 2027, and we can't wait to welcome audiences back to the Nevada Theatre for another unforgettable night.
